Examples include stairwells and elevators, boiler rooms and in exterior walls that have the potential for severe fire exposure from the outside of the building. A 45-minute fire rating is used where there are openings in a corridor or room partition; a door with this rating may also be located in the exterior wall of the building subject to moderate fire exposure from the outside of the building.
